General Information
3/12/2024 Indianola Fire Department has started testing paging on the MSWIN system using Sunflower Fire. Plans are fluid at this time.
As of 5/17/2023, The County Fire will be switching to Full MSWIN System soon, and all radio traffic will be on MSWIN. The Analog system will still be in use for Paging and for a backup system
Indianola PD and FD will still be using their NXDN Digital system until further notice
Inverness PD, Moorhead PD, and Sunflower PD are on the same MSWIN talk groups as the Sunflower County SO. Drew PD is on the same talk groups as Ruleville PD.
As of 6/18/23, The County Fire has now switched to the full MSWIN system. The conventional system will be used as a backup system

Fire/EMR/EMA
Sunflower County fire and emergency services are provided by several fire departments which are largely volunteer companies, emergency medical responders and the county emergency management agency. The county is divided into eight geographic districts for the purpose of fire protection, and that model is carried over into emergency medical response. Many of the county's volunteers fill multiple roles based on the need, whether it be firefighting operations, emergency medical, or roles with the emergency management office when unusual emergencies arise.
Fire and Emergency Services are coordinated by the Emergency Management Director who has the dual responsibility of being the County Fire Coordinator. Two deputy director/coordinators support the operational and planning aspects of countywide efforts, along with a County Training Officer and County Chaplain.
The Fire Coordinator and/or Deputy Coordinators respond on multi-district and Task Force alarms, high hazard occupancy alarms (healthcare, apartments, schools, etc.), highway incidents, hazardous materials incidents, and incidents of greater significance.
